Two rising stars settle down together: one an actress named Marina Dobres, one the frontman of a rock band, a man named Lawrence 'Larry' Reznik ; both enjoying a life of fame and success. However, after the birth of their son Thomas, or Tommy, they began to realise hollywood wouldn't stop and wait while they lived out their suburban family fantasy.The novelty of a new baby wore off quickly however, and they were eager to get back to the world of glamour and partying. Nannies were hired to look after Tommy, and the couple got back to celebrity life, but the bliss of stardom would turn out to be short lived.Marina wasn't getting hired as much anymore since the baby was born, as constant calls from the nannies would interrupt her filming schedule — Tommy it seemed was turning out to be quite a problem child.Larry meanwhile was busy washing away his career with booze and drugs, his bandmates grew tired of the no-shows and god-awful performances. His solo career was a complete flop, and Marina was sick of being tied to a public embarassment. She soon filed for divorce, and won custody of Tommy with little issue.Only a couple years passed before tragedy struck. Marina had finally got her career back on track. She was in movies again, and her name was on lips again.After a much-anticipated release, a horror movie starring Marina herself, she was murdered at a red-carpet event promoting the movie. The killer was never found, and rumours were dished out about someone taking out a hit on the starlet.After managing to convince the authorities that he was on the way to becoming clean and sober, Larry officially gains custody of the now 6-year old Tommy who moves in with him.Living with his father, Tommy is exposed to many things that a child shouldn't be - drugs, violence, vulgar talk between grown men, different women coming though every day, drug dealers.Another thing he's exposed to is horror movies. His father often left him alone, and he didn't exactly have a child-friendly house, so one day a bored Tommy makes use of his father's expansive horror movie collection.He becomes enamoured with the genre - the classics, the lesser known hidden gems, all of it. He filled his formerly bleak and lonely days with slashers and gore and occult thrillers, and when he wasn't glued to the screen he listened to his father's CDs - metal mainly, and its many subgenres. He'd sing along, and even learned how to do the screaming parts without hurting his throat.His father puts him through school - mainly because it was an easy way of avoiding organizing childcare - but he doesn't last long. Starved for attention, he acts out in school, attracting the attention of other kids with similar issues. Its not long before he's expelled - despite his father's bribes. Though he was kicked out, he keeps in contact with the friends he'd made - people who really accepted him, flaws and all - admired him, even.From then on, his relationship with his father goes from barely existent to destructive. As expected, Larry didn't stay on the path of sobriety for long, and screaming matches and fights became commonplace between the two.This goes on for years, until one day his father has an old friend from the industry over. Clearly he didnt think Tommy would be listening, because from his room, the now 16 year old teen hears his father casually discussing with a stranger how he hired a hitman to kill his mother.Though Tommy wanted to burst in and react, he thought it'd be better to wait for his moment - and that's exactly what he does. Months of silent planning ensue, followed by two years. Tommy keeps this secret close to his chest.the breaking news headlines told a story of an intruder who broke into Larry Reznik's house, stabbed him 194 times and took off. Tommy pulled off a convincing act to avoid suspicion on the 911 call and a pretty decent frame job on one of his dad's dealers. He'd learned enough about DNA evidence and fingerprints to pull it off.He'd killed his father and gotten away with it, and it was exhilarating. Since he was legally an adult now, he was now free to fend for himself. He reuintes with his old friends, and they decide to start a band, Tommy's apt for both clean and screaming vocals and twisted lyrics making him a natural frontman.They enjoy minor success at first, but controversy breeds interest, and the morbid draw of the orphaned son of two celebrities who were both murdered brings the band traction, along with their shock factor and dramatic, bloody live shows bringing in fans of horror and metal.As they rise to fame, Tommy realises theres only one thing he loves more than the attention and devotion of his fans —
killing. Ten years pass since he killed his father - the first of many, many kills. His fans and the authorities are none the wiser - to them, its all part of the act.
